Extending the childcare debate
September 15th, 2008
I hope a person like Dr Alice Hill continues to get more airtime in the public debates over early childhood. She is president of the Child Protection Society.
The focus on children-at-risk is where all the research about early childhood investment comes from. Her reasoned and intelligent argument in today’s Age is great. (You can read the article here).
She still doesn’t give an adequate run down of the “invest in early years save $8-$20 research. Which I have blogged and written about previously.
But, the focus for early childhood development should be on those children and families who need the most support. Oh - and a big time revamp of the whole child protection system would be a good place to start.
